An Introduction to Mosaics...

This 4 week course, consisting of a two and a half hour session each week, is designed to introduce you to the fascinating art of Mosaics.

Everything is supplied for you: a tutor, use of studio and studio tools, and all the materials you will need to complete your first project. 

You will make a 30cm square mosaic in this course, which is suitable for either indoor or outdoor use.  You can use it for a splash of colour in your garden as a garden paver, or perhaps as a hot mat on your kitchen bench or table.  They even look great on an outdoor table.  Take a look at the Student Portfolio on our Gallery page to see what our students have made.

Your journey will take you through:

  • A brief history of Mosaics
  • Safety in the Studio
  • Tools and how to use them
  • Materials to use (also known as tesserae)
  • How to cut your tesserae
  • Using patterns or Opus in your mosaic work
  • Basic colour theory
  • The completion of a simple project

This course is suitable for everyone from beginners, to those who have already started their Mosaic journey, but would like help with basic techniques. Using our sample project as a guide, this course will enable you to concentrate on learning how to use various tools to cut ceramic tiles.

This 10 hour course costs $250.00.         Maximum of 8 students per class.

Course Fees: A deposit of $100.00 is required at time of booking to secure your place in the class. Balance of class fee is payable at first lesson.
